Environmental Policy

Local moves shouldn't cost the planet. HomeGo Removals operates from three UK locations — our Burnham HQ plus dedicated branches in Birmingham and Uxbridge — and the vast majority of our jobs happen inside the regions those depots already cover (Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Surrey, Greater London and the West Midlands). That proximity is our biggest green advantage — we plan shorter routes, run fuller vans, and ship fewer empty miles than any nationals operating out of one centralised depot.

Our fleet

Every HomeGo van is chosen on a lifecycle-cost basis: fuel economy, real-world emissions, tyre efficiency, repair durability. We keep tyre pressures to manufacturer spec to improve MPG, and we do regular driver training in fuel-efficient driving (smooth acceleration, anticipation, engine-off waiting). Where routes allow, we consolidate multiple SL/RG/HP/UB jobs into the same half-day to avoid empty return legs.

Packaging

We operate a reusable-crate service for office and larger home moves — lidded, stackable plastic crates we collect back within 14 days. For cartons we prioritise recycled-content double-wall boxes and offer a free box-collection service after every move so they can be reused.

Waste

Packaging waste at our base goes through kerbside recycling and a dry mixed recyclables collection. Unwanted furniture? We partner with local British Heart Foundation and Emmaus collections so usable pieces get a second life rather than landfill. Broken items go through licensed waste-transfer partners — we track every load.

Office

Our Burnham HQ runs on a fully-paperless quote-and-booking system. End-of-life computers go through a certified WEEE recycler. Lights are LED, heating is thermostat-controlled and scheduled, and we participate in a local paper-recycling scheme.

Suppliers & partners

We only work with suppliers whose environmental policies align with ours. If a packaging or fuel supplier can't tell us where their materials come from or what happens at end-of-life, we move on.

What we measure

Every quarter we review fleet fuel-per-mile, miles per job, landfill weight, and van utilisation. Our target is year-on-year reduction in fuel-per-mile and zero furniture to landfill by 2027.

What you can do

Book midweek if you can — routes are fuller and emissions per job are lower. Accept our reusable-crate service instead of new cardboard. Let us collect empty boxes after — we'll reuse them for the next customer. Small things, together, add up.
