University of Oxford vs Oxford Brookes Student Moves — Timing, Cost & Booking
Two universities, two very different student-move calendars. Our Littlemore crew breaks down University of Oxford college accommodation moves vs Brookes halls timing and pricing.
Oxford has two universities with completely different academic calendars and accommodation patterns. Knowing the difference matters when you book a removal — get it wrong and you'll either pay 30% peak-pricing or fail to find a slot at all.
University of Oxford — collegiate accommodation cadence
30+ Oxford colleges operate on the three-term system (Michaelmas, Hilary, Trinity) with rusticated long vacations in between. Most undergraduates store belongings in college over vacation, but finalists and visiting fellows move every term-end. Trinity-term-end (mid-to-late June) and Michaelmas-term-start (early October) are the two crunch fortnights. Book 3+ weeks ahead.
Oxford Brookes — halls and Cowley Road lets
Brookes runs a more conventional September–June academic year. Headington Hill halls and the dense Cowley Road / Iffley Road student lets all turn over in mid-September and again in late May/early June. Our Cowley Road slots fill 4 weeks out for early-September.
Per-person van-share rates
For single-student moves with one room's belongings (typical: 25–40 boxes + a mattress topper + a desk), our van-share rate is £85 per person, OX-wide. For a 2-bed student house full of belongings, fixed rate £280–£420 depending on access.
Storage between terms
Our Littlemore depot offers £15 per week per cubic metre, CCTV-monitored, with 7-days-a-week appointment access. Typical student needs are 2–3 cu m for the long vacation. Book in May for Trinity-end, August for Hilary-start.
Cowley Road / Iffley Road two-up-two-down terraces
Both roads are lined with Victorian terraces, mostly with 78–82cm front doors. We carry sofa-split tools and most beds come apart for the door. We pre-survey if there's any doubt.
