Reading Storage — Short-Term & Long-Term Options From Our Queens Walk Branch
Storage solutions in Reading from our RG1 7QF branch. Short-term completion-gap storage, long-term self-storage, climate-controlled vaults — pricing, access and what to choose.
Storage is often the difference between a stressful move and a smooth one. Our Queens Walk branch offers three tiers of Reading storage — short-term completion-gap, mid-term seasonal, and long-term self-storage. Here's how each works and when to use it.
Tier 1: Short-term completion-gap (5 days FREE)
For any Reading customer whose buyer/seller completion slips, we hold up to 2 cubic metres of belongings free for 5 days at our Queens Walk depot. No paperwork, no surcharge — just a phone call. Covers ~90% of conveyancing-slip situations without you ever paying a storage bill.
Tier 2: Mid-term seasonal storage (1–8 weeks)
For longer gaps — sabbaticals, between-tenancies, renovation projects — we charge £12 per cubic metre per week at the depot. Access by appointment, 7 days a week. Cheaper than Big Yellow Reading (£17–£22/cu m/week) and Easystore Reading (£15–£19/cu m/week) for equivalent storage. Typical 3-bed-house volume is 14–18 cu m so a 4-week mid-term storage bill would be £670–£860.
Tier 3: Long-term self-storage (2+ months)
For genuinely long-term storage (overseas postings, university gap years, downsizers between properties), we partner with self-storage facilities in Tilehurst and Calcot — we arrange the unit, transport your belongings, and you have your own key. Pricing typically £180–£320/month for a 50–75 sq ft unit (suitable for a 2–3 bed house). Significantly cheaper than central-Reading self-storage rates.
Climate-controlled storage for art, documents, electronics
For high-value or temperature-sensitive items (artwork, musical instruments, vintage electronics, legal/medical archives, wine cellars), our partner facility in Burghfield offers climate-controlled vaults at 16–20°C, 45–55% humidity. £35/month per cu m. We handle pick-up and drop-off.
