Calendar marking a mid-week Tuesday moving day in Maidenhead

Pick the right day and your Maidenhead move will be 18–25% cheaper, faster, and dramatically less stressful. Pick the wrong day and you'll pay peak pricing for slower traffic, busier crews and harder-to-secure parking dispensations. Here's the 2026 data from our SL6 branch diary.

The price ladder (typical 3-bed semi within SL6)

  • Tuesday mid-month: £680 baseline
  • Wednesday mid-month: £680 (same — quietest two days of the year)
  • Thursday mid-month: £695
  • Monday mid-month: £720
  • Friday mid-month: £780
  • Saturday mid-month: £850
  • Friday end-of-month: £920 (peak)
  • Saturday end-of-month: £980 (peak)

Same crew, same van, same hours — only the day changes.

The end-of-month trap

UK rental cycles mean 60%+ of all moves cluster in the last week of every month. Our diary in the last Friday/Saturday of each month is typically booked 4 weeks ahead and runs at 100% capacity. Saturday-the-30th in March, June and September is the busiest day in our calendar.

School-holiday clashes

Three SL6 school-holiday windows cause every Maidenhead removals firm to fill up: the last week of July (school break), the last week of August (return prep), and 23rd December – 2nd January (Christmas break). Avoid all three if you want flexibility.

Best months overall

Quietest months in our diary: February (post-Christmas lull), November (pre-Christmas window), and the first two weeks of March. Cheapest move you can possibly book in SL6: a Tuesday in mid-February.

The Saturday surcharge

Some firms charge a flat +20% for weekend moves. We don't — but Saturday demand naturally pushes pricing because the same Luton van can do 2 jobs on a Tuesday and only 1 on a Saturday. Book a Saturday if you must, but try Friday morning first.

What about completion dates?

Sometimes you don't have a choice — conveyancing dictates Friday completion. In that case: (1) book us 4 weeks ahead minimum, (2) accept that traffic will be busier, (3) use our free 5-day storage if your buyer's completion slips.

Pricing depends on total volume, not bedrooms. The more detail, the tighter the price.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest day to move in Maidenhead?

A Tuesday or Wednesday in mid-February or mid-November. Our diary is at 25–35% capacity those weeks, so pricing is the lowest of the year.

How much more does a Saturday cost vs a Tuesday?

About 25% mid-month, up to 45% on end-of-month Saturdays. Same crew, same van — pure supply-and-demand.

Should I avoid Friday end-of-month?

Yes if you have flexibility. Last Friday of the month is 30% more expensive than mid-month Friday and books 4 weeks ahead. If conveyancing forces it, book us early.

What about school-holiday weekends?

Last week of July, last week of August, and Christmas-NYE week are all near-100% full in our diary. Book 5+ weeks ahead or shift dates.

Do you charge a Saturday surcharge?

No flat surcharge — our pricing reflects natural demand. A Saturday is typically 25% more than a same-week Tuesday because we can fit fewer jobs in a Saturday.
